Over the last week, the FDA has decided to issue alerts through its official reports about the possible health problems that can result from eating certain products sold in the United States. In this case, it has raised the alarm about a frozen chicken from a well-known brand that is present in several states, but which has attracted attention after demonstrating the presence of metal inside it, which caused havoc for a consumer who had to be referred to a dentist immediately after eating a piece of this food. In this article, we will detail which brand and which state is affected by this recall of frozen chicken.
Beware of this dangerous frozen chicken in supermarkets
On January 11th, the FDA and the United States Department of Agriculture decided to issue a warning about the possible ingestion of metals improperly incorporated into Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos frozen chicken from the Bestway Sandwiches brand, which makes chicken and cheese tacos sold in the Aldi supermarket chain. In total, there are some 63 stores that may have for sale these chicken tacos affected by metal debris that has already caused an injury and, based on this, has drawn the attention of the authorities. To be precise, the stores that must remove the frozen chicken tacos from the market are those in 31 states across the country, as that is where all of the potentially affected products were distributed.
As for the details to be included on the labels of potentially contaminated products, it is important to consider that those that should be discarded were produced between July 3 and September 25, 2024. In addition, on the cardboard box that holds all the tacos, some 24,000 pounds in total, you will see the expiration date ranging from July 3 to September 25, but of the year 2025. In other words, many may think they are consuming something that is safe, but this is not the case. That is why it is important to dispose of the products and follow the steps recommended by the FDA.
Be careful if you are in one of these states
To be precise, Aldi, the supermarket chain that received products from Bestway Sandwiches (Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos) with possible metal contamination, has reported that these contaminated products are in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia, Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Washington, Delaware, Maryland, Florida, Massachusetts, Louisiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Iowa, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota and New Hampshire.
Through an official report, Aldi has also decided to apologize to those affected, providing the contact details for claims for product returns from Bestway Foods Co. To do so, please call (818) 361-1800 Ext. 110. You can add your name to this list if you can confirm that you are one of those affected, as happened with a man who found a piece of metal in the taquitos or another who suffered a dental injury, to the victims who will be compensated thanks to the actions of the companies in collaboration with the FDA.
