On January 24, 2025, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a recall notice for “Rural King” and “Wabash Valley Farms” bacon seasonings. According to the company responsible, TS Food Packaging, the reason for the recall is the presence of a soy ingredient that was not declared on the product label. This poses a risk to any consumer with a soy allergy, as it could trigger severe and even life-threatening reactions.

Why the FDA is requiring the recall of these bacon-flavored seasonings from TS Food Packaging
The main reason is the presence of a soy-based substitute that was not included on the product label. TS Food Packaging discovered the omission during a quality check, when they realized that a supplier had supplied an ingredient with soy without notifying them of this change. According to the company, corrective measures have been taken to reinforce review protocols and avoid similar incidents in the future.
Anyone allergic to soy could experience severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the throat or hives, when consuming these seasonings. Although no cases of adverse reactions have been confirmed, the FDA considers this recall an important precaution to safeguard consumer health.
What should consumers who have these TS Food Packaging seasonings at home do?
It is best to stop using immediately any jar or sample pack that corresponds to the indicated batches. It is advisable to return them to the establishment where they were purchased in order to request a full refund. If a refund is not possible, it is best to dispose of the product and avoid any possible health risk.
