In 2015, the successful musician and entrepreneur was looking for a change of pace and imagined an ambitious project. With this, the artist intended to reconnect with his younger imagination. Each chapter contains detailed book clues leading to one of five treasure chests. To protect the integrity of the search, Collins-Black worked with as few strategists and editors as possible. She also aimed to avoid leaking clues to the public. He even made the decision to keep the treasure’s location secret from his wife. “I really couldn’t consult other people because I didn’t want them to have that burden,” the author asserted.
“There’s a treasure inside” has generated an impressive buzz. Thousands of participants gathered on discussion channels such as Discord to share their theories. An example of this is the YouTube channel Cowlazars, where they make live transmissions, discuss the clues and exchange information with each other.
Regarding the difficulty, the author clarified that adventurers need not worry about their safety while searching. As he explained, there will be no need for dangerous underwater explorations, climbing or trespassing on private property. “I expect and believe it could take a little while, but I don’t need this to take forever,” the author said regarding the exigency and difficulty of the search. On that note, he added that if the chests remain undiscovered for several years, he believes he will publish additional clues to see if the search comes to life.
