Being able to live on a paradise island while working free of charge for food and accommodation? This is not some wild kind of fantasy; it is true! Great Blasket, an Irish tour company, is looking for a couple to run a café and accommodation on one of the islands of the same name: Great Blasket Island. The entry for this contract will be from April 1 to October 1, 2023, and accommodation and food will be part of it. The salary can be negotiated, but there is every reason to believe that this would feel like a paid vacation. The employable candidates will live in a dormitory above the café and make the café kitchen and bathroom theirs. Laundry service and all daily supplies are provided fresh from the room. Let us tell you more about this offer if that has sparked your interest.
The company is looking for a couple to manage tourist services on an Irish island with all expenses covered
The basic tasks will include management of the café and four types of tourist accommodations on the island. This will include welcoming overnight guests, serving coffee and tea to day visitors, and ensuring smooth daily operations. An ideal candidate will be responsible and hardworking, have good social skills, and have the capacity to solve short-term problems on their own. Daily tasks will include:
- Making sure the café is open and that the bathrooms are clean before the day’s business begins.
- 10:00 AM check-out is supervised, and three hours is needed to clean and prepare accommodations for incoming visitors.
- The café needs to be ready to receive visitors at 1:00 PM and stay open until 5:00 PM-during which time it should be cleaned and restocked for the next day.
The pace of work will depend a lot on the weather. There may be days with little work to do-in the event of bad weather when there were no visitors on the island-but there will be weeks in the summer, and especially in June, July, and August, when tourist traffic can be quite busy. During the peak season, volunteers will be accommodated and fed in exchange for work. You must speak English. If you know Irish, let it be known in your application-it will surely work to your advantage against other candidates.
