Toyota Company has today given another major vehicle recall for some 100,000 units of its cars especially its popular Tundra trucks and Lexus LX SUVs. The recall happened over a critical defect with V6 twin-turbo engine. This is actually one of the most dramatic recalls in the recent history of the firm. The problem here is indeed one of those dangerous flaws that can even cause the engine to shut down while driving. Immediately, bear in mind that the issue is only for the 4.3-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine variants of the affected cars. But for now it’s unknown when it’s going to stop.
Toyota Car Recall Why Have This Recall?
As the brand announced, there’s probably a metallic fragments mess left during the manufacturing and which then leads to irregular engine operation; even the complete loss of power and steering. Names and the new recall for the following includes about 98,000 units of the famous Toyota Tundra trucks and 3,500 units of the Lexus LX SUV version.
Again, only the 4.3-litre V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine versions are covered in the recall. Not every Tundra is affected by this recall as the hybrid model, LX are not under this recall since they are also provided with an auxiliary electric pump. In the event of engine failure, thanks to the auxiliary electric motor, they can still work, CarBuzz reported.
Toyota Car Recall How Much it Costs?
Automotive maker Toyota had actually filed a report with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the NHTSA in May 2024. The documents indicated that 1% of these units are potentially affected, totaling 102,092 cars. Although complex and costly, this recall covers engine replacements and labor to ensure customer safety.
This large-scale recall also means Toyota must redirect resources toward manufacturing new replacement engines, which could temporarily impact the production of newer models. However, despite the high associated costs, Toyota emphasizes that user safety remains its top priority.
